Ohio recounts pending as state certifies presidential election
While I don't expect the outcome of the election to change, I'm in full support of a hand recount in Ohio. There have already been examples of Bush receiving thousands more votes than he should have due to mechanical and clerical errors. That's a primary reason why the public should oppose electronic voting machines with no paper trail. With such machines, there's no way to actually have a manual recount should it become necessary.
The public ought to be able to have confidence in its democracy and its vote. The alternative is we become Ukraine.

Scott...I completely agree. Faith in the electoral process is what gives it its legitimacy. If our voting practices are suspect, there must be a way to reassure the public that the outcome was in fact legitimate.
It certainly doesn't give folks confidence when the elections are handled by partisan Secretary of State as is the case in Ohio where Blackwell was involved with the Bush campaign. One has to ask the question as to why he waited 34 days to certify the election. The obvious answer is he wants to prevent any recount or at least prevent that recount from affecting the electors the state sends. Shameful.
