A very interesting article, I must say. Hardly anyone from Michigan (my home state) has ever held a very optimistic view of the economy. Maybe it's because Michigan (and many other states) have lost high-paying, skilled labor jobs. My father and step father, for example, had 20+ year careers, only to now deliver newspapers and do odd jobs. GDP is meaningless, where are the jobs?
BTW, I enjoy reading your blog.
